Isaiah 30:10: People tell God's prophets to stop speaking the truth. They demand pleasant words and illusions instead
General CommunityTo the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." Isaiah 8:20 Christian theology maintains that God does not contradict His own character or truth. Any teaching that contrudicts the word of God it does not come from God. The Bible directly addresses this behavior. [2 Timothy 4:3-4] states that a time comes when people will not listen to true teaching. Instead, they follow their own desires and look for teachers who tell them only what they want to hear. Timothy 4:3-4: People turn away from the truth. They listen to their own wishes and find teachers who scratch their itchy ears with pleasing words. Isaiah 30:10: People tell God's prophets to stop speaking the truth. They demand pleasant words and illusions instead. Matthew 13:13-15: Jesus explains that some people look but do not see, and listen but do not understand, because their hearts are closed. . Jeremiah 5:21: God speaks to a foolish people who have eyes but do not see, and ears but do not hear. Why People Do It? Pride: People prefer their own ideas over God's commands. Comfort: Hard truths require change, but pleasing messages let people stay as they are. Control: Choosing a "teacher" who agrees with personal sin makes people feel justified. What controls you becomes your master!

General CommunityPsalm 23 reminds us that God's presence does not remove every trial. "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies" (Psalm 23:5). Here David shifts the picture from a shepherd to a gracious host. This speaks of God's divine protection, public honor, and abundant provision. God does not wait for our battles to end before blessing us. He gives us peace in the middle of conflict, and we do not need to fight our battles alone—God Himself fights for us. Even in the presence of opposition, He sets a table of blessing and favor. "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me" (Psalm 23:4). Likewise, Isaiah 43:2 promises that when we walk through the fire, we will not be burned because God is with us. David also shows us a posture of trust and rest—he rested in green pastures, fully confident in God's care and provision even in uncertain seasons. The enemy may witness God's blessings but cannot stop what God has prepared for His children. The message of Psalm 23 is simple: God faithfully guides, protects, provides, and remains with His people through every valley, every battle, and every season of life. As under-shepherds, we are called to reflect His heart by first leading our own households well and then faithfully caring for those God entrusts to us. Think about Psalm 23 from David's perspective. Before he became king, David was a shepherd boy. His parents provided his food, clothing, and a place to sleep. Day after day he led his sheep to green pastures and still waters. His life was peaceful. His only responsibility was caring for the flock. He did not have the burdens of a kingdom, armies, or the constant pressure of people trying to kill him. But God loved David too much to leave him in his comfort zone. God had anointed him to become king, and that calling required preparation. The peaceful shepherd's field became a battlefield. After David was anointed, everything changed. King Saul sought to kill him, and those loyal to Saul hunted him down. David often did not know where his next meal would come from. At one point, he and his men were so hungry that they ate the consecrated bread from the tabernacle (1 Samuel 21:1–6). He lived in caves, was rejected by many, and even his own men spoke of killing him (1 Samuel 22:1–2; 1 Samuel 30:6). Yet David is the one who wrote, "The Lord is my Shepherd." He learned that true rest is not found in peaceful circumstances but in the presence of God. Even while running for his life, he could say, "He makes me lie down in green pastures... Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me." God will often shake our lives and move us out of our comfort zone because He is shaping us into the people He has called us to become. Trials are not meant to destroy us; they are meant to develop us. In every season, whether in the green pastures or the dark valleys, God calls us to trust Him, rest in Him, and follow the Good Shepherd.
